Southbank Portrait Shoot

AmyAfter a long absence from shooting Portraiture I travelled up to Brisbane to do my second shoot with Amy. Starting in the middle of the day is not my ideal time for pulling out the camera so I decided on Southbank as a location. I knew there’d be locations where we could escape the Sun so we hung around the Rainforest Board-walk and the Temple area.

For Storbists information I used a single Soft-box with a Yongnuo YN-560 triggered by Yongnuo RF-602′s. Yongnuo is a cheap way to get into off camera flash and you can find these on Ebay.

_MG_6471.jpgThis is getting to the stage of afternoon light that I like though I’d prefer to drop the ambient by another stop or two. High Speed Sync would be handy or using a Neutral Density Filter could have worked. There’s always the option of changing the aperture but I really wanted to blow the background slightly out of focus.

_MG_6401.jpgFound some water and I do love a reflection. Next time, think about shooting this when the Sun’s not hitting the buildings in the background so hard.

A small slideshow from the day.
