Sort of a re-hash of an old post but when you’re silly enough to loose your back-up, everything is almost new again. I’ve only dabbled in Portrait Photography and can still count the number of shoots I’ve done using my hands.
I did find a random dog for a quick shot though we did have eyes on a Great Dane that was at the beach.
This day was my second solo Portrait Shoot and I was even newer to Off Camera Lighting. A couple of pointers I learned from this day
- Find a decent way to keep your light-stand from being knocked over by waves. I killed a cheap Yongnuo YN-460 in the surf.
- Magic sometimes does happen when the Sun sets
A couple of Surfers decided to join in on the action and not long after this shot was taken, the light stand and flash met the surf. In future I’ll use my Fishing Rod holder to keep the light stand from being knocked over as it does a pretty decent job submerged in water.
Unfortunately I haven’t returned to the beach doing Portraits as much as I’d like – I guess that’s where the advantage of paying a Model would come in. Here’s what I want to do and this is the style I’m going to do.
The rest of the images from this day – I’m sure there’s more that’ll be added back to this gallery over time. Mouse over for Navigation Panel.
